Work Safely in the Construction Industry CPCCWHS1001

Before commencing work on any construction site in Australia, workers are required to hold evidence of general construction induction under the applicable occupational health and safety laws of each state or territory jurisdiction.

Formally known in Western Australia as the “Blue Card” and “Red Card” in Victoria, this nationally recognised unit has been replaced by the “Construction Induction Card” or the “White card”. The course is aimed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills to work in a range of construction sites.

This nationally recognised unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) induction training within the construction industry. It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of WHS legislative requirements, and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.

Content includes understanding WHS communication and reporting processes, applying the principles of risk management and identifying common hazards and control measures.

Delivery Method

Face to face delivery. This highly practical course includes a theory assessment.

Pre-requisites / Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites, however participants must have basic English skills.


participants will be issued with a card and Statement of Attainment.


On-site at your workplace, or alternatively a suitable training venue can be organised.
