Licence to Operate a Boom-type Elevating Work Platform (boom length 11 metres or more) TLILIC0005

Star Training & Assessing is Worksafe accredited to deliver WP training and assessment in VIC. This nationally recognised unit of competency is designed to provide students with the ability to operate an elevated work platform (EWP) safely and arm them with the knowledge and skills required to obtain a ‘National High Risk Work License, Class WP’. The national guidelines stipulate a WP licence is required for the use of all boom  type elevated work platforms with a boom reach of 11 metres and above.

Upon completion of this course, students will have the skills and knowledge required to:

  • Plan work using boom-type elevating work platforms
  • Conduct routine checks on boom-type elevating work platforms
  • Set up boom-type elevating work platforms
  • Operate boom-type elevating work platforms
  • Shut down and secure boom-type elevating work platform

National Assessment Criteria

Knowledge Assessment – Includes a closed book written and mathematical assessment. Study guides will be sent to participants prior to the course.

Practical Assessment – Hazard identification and hazard prevention, conduct pre-operational checks, conduct post-start checks, safe operation of the EWP, practical obstacle course, advanced obstacle operation and shutting down and securing the EWP.

Pre-requisites

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age, documentary evidence and proof of age is required before course commencement.

Participants must reside in Victoria

Participants must have sufficient knowledge of the English language and basic numeracy skills to complete the written and mathematical assessment.

Outcome

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with an electronic copy of statement of attainment and ‘notice of assessment’ (L2 form) which they take to an Australia Post outlet along with a $64 payment, 100 points of ID (Australian ID) and passport photo. The five year licence will then be sent by Worksafe Victoria, which should be received within approximately 3 weeks of lodgement.
