Provide First Aid HLTAID003 

This nationally recognised unit incorporates

HLTAID001 ‘Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’
HLTAID002 ‘Provide Basic Emergency Life Support’

and is designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills to respond and support a person experiencing illness or injury until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Content includes assessing an emergency situation, legal and social responsibilities of the first aider, apply CPR, management of external bleeding, management of poisoning, bites and stings, shock, stroke, management of seizures, managing anaphylaxis, managing asthma, identifying and managing shock, and diabetes.

Delivery Method

Face to face delivery.

Participants are required to complete both a practical and theory assessment. The practical assessment includes ‘Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’ (CPR), the use of an AED (defibrillator) and practical demonstration.

Pre-requisites / Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites, however participants must have basic English skills.

Outcome

A first aider pocket card and electronic copy of statement of attainment will be given upon successful completion of the course.

The First Aid qualification is valid for 3 years

The CPR qualification is valid for 12 months.

Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID002

This nationally recognised unit is designed to provide participants with basic life support measures in an emergency situation and incorporates the CPR component, management of an emergency situation bleeding, attending to a casualty and/or preventing a casualty from going into shock.

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HLTAID001 

This nationally recognised unit is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

Topics include the legal and social responsibilities of a first aider, evaluating the incident, and applying rescue breathing and CPR.

Delivery Method

Face to face delivery. Participants are required to complete a practical demonstration for the assessment.
