Face to face delivery. The course involves a theory and practical assessment.
There are no prerequisites, however participants must be able to converse and comprehend basic English.

  • Closed toe shoes
  • Long sleeve clothing
Upon successful completion, participants receive an electronic copy of Statement of Attainment.

Demonstrate correct use of portable fire extinguishers to extinguish simulated fires

  • Determining fire type and classification
  • Selecting fire extinguishers to attack different fires
  • Demonstrating the safe use of fire extinguishers according to manufacturers’ instructions and relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures

Demonstrating correct use of fire hose reels

  • Demonstrating the safe use of hose reels according to manufacturers’ instructions and relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures
  • Ensuring water is turned off in the approved sequence and hose reel is checked for leaks
  • Ensuring hose reel is rewound correctly after use

Demonstrating correct use of fire blanket

  • Demonstrating the safe use of fire blankets according to manufacturers’ instructions and relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures

This nationally recognised unit of competency is designed to train and equip participants to be competent in the fighting of fires within their work environment.

The course is suitable for anyone who may need to use various firefighting equipment. It covers what equipment is most suitable to put out different types of fires and how to correctly use that equipment. Upon completion, applicants will understand the theory and practical application of using Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hoses and Fire Blankets.
