Victorian Traffic Management Training

Victorian traffic management training is changing from March 1st 2024

Book your full course or refresher course before February 29, 2024.

From March 1st 2024, Traffic Management Training in Victoria is changing across the State to align with the new Code of Practice for Worksite Safety – Traffic Management.

This change involves adopting a mandated National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management. This training, including training duration and requirements will be Nationally Regulated and monitored by AustRoads and each state/territory Road Authority.

National Training for Temporary Traffic Management provides:

  • Graduated learning across the Temporary Traffic Management roles
  • A structured genuine career path
  • Theoretical (classroom) and practical on-the-job learning
  • Mutual recognition – individuals who have successfully completed the training requirements in one state/territory will have this training recognised in another participating state/territory. Please note, that additional localised training may be required.

Temporary Traffic Management Roles and Training will now be classed over several categories, with each category requiring further training and practical experience, then followed by a practical assessment.

The role and where the work is being undertaken, including its complexity determines the TTM category of training required. There are eight temporary traffic management national training programs with associated Skill Sets.

What this means for you?

Book and sit a course before February 29, 2024.
New workers will be required to complete the new training from March 1st 2024. Any student that books a course before the changes on March 1st 2024 will fall under the “old” training system and will be granted a 3-year accreditation to perform traffic management duties.  After 3 years the new training course will need to be undertaken.
Current traffic management workers will need to undertake the new training as their qualifications expire. However, under the current training system, if a refresher course is taken before the changes on March 1st 2024 , you will be granted a 3-year accreditation to perform traffic management duties.  After 3 years the new training course will need to be undertaken.
